Mobile network Three has announced that it will be launching its 5G network in the United Kingdom in August, making it potentially the third mobile network in the country after EE and Vodafone. 3 said it's been updating its network across the busiest areas of the United Kingdom, including London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, as part of its 5G infrastructure investment commitment which includes also a new 5G-ready cloud core network provided by Nokia.

"Not only is Three's 5G service set to be available in more cities than either Vodafone or EE, but the network is also confident its speeds will be twice as fast as those of its rivals".

As per credible sources, the details of handsets that will be part of the mobile launch of UK Three is expected to be announced in the coming month.

The company is trying to attract headlines by claiming that it will provide the UK's fastest 5G network, due to it having twice as much of the 5G spectrum as its competitors.

For those of you keeping count, it means Three may well have the widest 5G coverage by the time the year is up. EE now only offers 5G in six cities, and promised a total of 16 locations will have 5G before the end of the year.

U.S. opens World Cup with record-breaking 13-0 rout of Thailand
Thailand , ranked No. 34 in the world, was clearly outmatched even though the team has shown progress on the world stage. The World Cup comes at a time when female players across the globe are seeking better treatment, conditions and pay.

After the initial launch in London, Three will extend its 5G network to a further 24 towns and cities across the United Kingdom before the end of 2019.

But Three is confident that it has acquired more useful spectrum than its rivals, and when consumers really start to take an interest in 5G next year it will be well-placed to race ahead.

"By the time full fibre does reach many people - with 2033 still the government's target for full coverage - they may very well be perfectly happy with 5G mobile broadband connections".

The network investment programme also includes upgrades within Three's 4G network, expected to deliver up to 400 percent improvements in speed and capacity. This includes a new 5G-ready cloud core network provided by Nokia.

The transition will require all Vodafone customers to have 4G enabled handsets, and all of its current 3G networks "in certain areas" will have to be replaced with 5G.
