The late Stan Lee's former business manager, Keya Morgan, was arrested on elder abuse charges in Arizona Saturday morning, TMZ reports.

Following an extensive investigation, Morgan now faces multiple charges, including for the false imprisonment of an elder, Grand Theft, and elder abuse.

Lee, 95, died on November 12, 2018 from pre-existing medical conditions, police said, and had been the victim in an elder abuse investigation that began in March 2018.

Two days after Morgan's arrest, a restraining order was issued on behalf of the Marvel creator against Morgan.

Lee's daughter said in a request for a restraining order previous year that Mr Morgan was manipulating the mentally declining Lee, preventing him from seeing family and friends, and trying to take control of his money and business affairs.

In addition to issuing the restraining order, Los Angeles authorities also arrested Morgan past year for making false calls to 911, alleging that Lee's life was in danger.

Morgan's attorney, Alex Kessel, said Morgan never abused or exerted control over Lee, and was apparently in contact with prosecutors to arrange Morgan's surrender next week but he was arrested anyway, per the Associated Press. The warrant was issued after Morgan was hit with the charges.

Police say he made the calls in order to convince Lee to leave his Hollywood Hills residence and move to a secured condo in Beverly Hills last June so he would be isolated and under Morgan's control.

Police specifically note money Morgan allegedly collected from autograph signing sessions in May 2018 that totaled $262,000 and were never given to Lee.

"In both instances, Morgan was using this tactic to further deceive Lee into believing he was in danger and needed to be moved from his home to a more secured condominium where Morgan had more control over Lee", the LAPD's statement read.

The same year Lee had filed a billion dollar lawsuit against POW Entertainment claiming they stole his name and took advantage of him.

Between May 7 and June 10 Morgan is alleged to have "knowingly and wilfully" put him in a situation "where his health was endangered".

"I will 100 percent prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the allegations against me are false", he said at the time.
