In a statement to IT Pro Portal, the company said it has "made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Android around the world".

The move sees Google revoking Huawei's Android license and restrict it to using the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

Further examination of this response implies that major Android updates that are regulated and examined by Google before deployment will not be sent to Huawei phones.

Following Google's decision, Huawei said it would continue to provide security updates and services for all of its existing smartphones and tablets.

Huawei pointed out the negative impact that this ban will have on the USA economy. It's quite unlikely that Huawei would release hundreds of thousands of apps compatible with Hongmeng.

Reuters reported over the weekend that Google Android has suspended business operations with Huawei that isn't covered under open source licensing, as an aftermath of Trump's recent Executive order banning the Chinese company from transacting with USA firms.

It may be odd to think that Huawei could continue to manufacture Android smartphones after losing their official Android licence, but the operating system's code is actually open source. Huawei is yet to respond to the suspension and Google's global statement doesn't provide much detail or specifics.

Huawei has been preparing for a time when it could operate independently of external suppliers.

The exact details are still being discussed internally at Google, according to a source that spoke with Reuters.

The license created by the US Commerce Department reportedly lasts until August 19.

Previously, it was reported as Huawei devices will "immediately" lose access to Android updates. Years ago, a Google-free Android experience like an Amazon Fire may have been feasible. The upcoming devices will not have any access to the Play Store, first-party Google apps like Gmail, or Play Services.

This story is developing very quickly, and there was talk mere days ago that the Huawei ban could be softened. Some of this technology is already being used in products sold in China.

That, however, raised questions if withholding software products from the Chinese OEM also affected existing phones in the market. This time, USA might possibly have been able to put a dent on the Chinese Tech giant.

The Chinese company's European business, its second-biggest market, could be hit as Huawei licenses these services from Google in Europe.
