In Alabama, the new law essentially bans abortions at all stages of pregnancy, including in cases of rape and incest.

These extremist Republican lawmakers know what the law is - but they don't care. The rule keeps abortion care out of reach for many low-income and marginalized women who rely on Medicaid and the Indian Health Service for their healthcare.

All of the state bans have either been blocked by a judge or are headed for the courts, and some of their backers have said they want the issue to go all the way to the nine-member Supreme Court.
