Top speed in the McLaren GT is 203 mph (326 km/h) with 0-62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration in just 3.2 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in nine seconds.

McLaren uses its carbon fibre monocoque dubbed MonoCell II-T.

Overall, body movement is tailored for occupant comfort and vertical load and contact patch variation are optimised to enhance grip levels, but each of the three active dynamics handling modes – Comfort, Sport and Track – has its own distinct set of parameters to reflect the selected preference, for example, a particularly compliant ride in Comfort mode. Based on the price, the GT will slot above the 570GT and 570S of the Sports Series but below the 720S and 720S Spider of the Super Series.

To find the best balance between comfort and control, the GT gets a new Proactive Damping Control suspension system. The interior is a lot more plush than a regular McLaren supercar, to make it bearable for long journeys.

However, the McLaren GT's giveaway features are a pair of electrically adjustable and heated seats, which - for the first time ever in a production vehicle - can be trimmed optionally in cashmere. The 15- or 7-spoke alloy wheels are the largest ever fitted to a McLaren, measuring 21-inches at the rear and 20-inch in diameter at the front, and come wrapped in specially formulated Pirelli P Zero rubber.

"The new McLaren GT combines competition levels of performance with continent-crossing capability, wrapped in a handsome body and true to McLaren's ethos of designing superlight cars with a clear weight advantage over rivals", said McLaren Automotive chief executive Mike Flewitt. A dimmable panoramic glass roof and a high-end 12-speaker audio system are available separately. Deliveries of the McLaren GT will commence towards the closure of 2019 and it is priced at $210,000 (Rs. 1.47 crore). Suspension, steering and brakes are all bespoke and optimized to provide unforgettable driving experience of a Grand Tourer. In combination with underbody clearance of 110mm (130mm with vehicle lift) this ensures the auto is eminently usable in all urban situations; not only is it competitive with all rivals, but in "lift" mode it is the equal of mainstream sedans. No local pricing has been announced yet but it starts in the United Kingdom from £163,000.
