Grumpy Cat, an internet celebrity for her permanent frown, died "in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha" this week, leaving behind countless online jokes about how we all feel at our worst moments, her family said on Friday. It allowed her to quit her job as a waitress at Red Lobster within days of her cat's internet debut, USA media reported.

Her death at the age of seven was due to a urinary tract infection, her Twitter account said, with the announcement, "Some days are grumpier than others".

A statement says she died on Tuesday following complications from a recent urinary tract infection.

Grumpy Cat's angry expression was the result of being born with dwarfism and an underbite.
