In January Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United caused huge controversy when Derby County spotted a Leeds employee spying on their training sessions ahead of the two teams playing each other in the Championship.

Bielsa's opposite number Lampard had the last laugh, however, with Jack Marriott's introduction from the bench proving pivotal as the forward struck a decisive brace.

In the Championship, England's second tier league, the top two finishers are promoted automatically while the teams that finish third through sixth enter a four-team tournament for the final spot.

"We were 1-0 down, I said to the lads everyone had written us off".

Lampard said: "I think it would be slightly taking your eye off he ball to get caught up in any revenge or thinking about can we beat them because of this or that".

"The work rate through the year, players coming in, we're not there yet, I watched Villa do this [celebrate reaching the final], but the players deserve it".

"We'll have a tough game a Wembley against a brilliant Villa team, but we're there".

Derby did not let them off the hook for it.

The visitors held out for 24 minutes, when Kalvin Phillips' free-kick swung in from the left and came back off the post to leave Dallas with a tap-in.

But Derby started well and, though stunned by a Leeds goal against the run of play, recovered to win a thrilling game 4-2 on the night and progress 4-3 on aggregate.

In the 58th minute, Derby's Harry Wilson converted a penalty kick after teammate Mason Bennett was brought down in the box by Leeds defender Liam Cooper.

Mason Mount levelled the aggregate score once again in the first minute of the second half.

Dallas' fellow full-back Luke Ayling nearly restored Leeds' aggregate advantage when he exchanged passes with Patrick Bamford and shot wide.

Jack Marriott came off the bench to score twice for Derby, including an 85th-minute victor in a pulsating encounter in which both teams were reduced to 10 men.

Stuart Dallas found the corner of the net to restore parity but, after Leeds went down to 10 men, Marriott struck with five minutes remaining to send them to Wembley.
