Realme X gets announced with pop-up selfie cam, costs under $300

Realme X is the company's first smartphone to include a pop-up selfie camera module.

Prices for the Realme X starts from 1499 Yuan (~RM910) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage variant, 1599 Yuan (~RM971) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage variant and 1799 Yuan (~RM1092) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant. In China, the smartphone will also come with smart assistant Breeno.

The much-awaited Realme X has finally been unveiled at a launch event in Beijing and I know, most of us have been expecting it to be a flagship smartphone - but it really isn't one. The company also launched the Realme X Naoto Fukasawa collection in collaboration with the world's top industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa. It is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710AIE mobile platform coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

For its camera, it comes with a dual rear camera setup with 48MP + 5MP sensors whereas the selfie camera comes with a 16MP sensor. The device is backed by a 3,765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

As announced earlier, Realme enters the Chinese smartphone market with the all-new Realme X smartphone.

The main draw with Realme is the affordability: the brand regularly undercuts Xiaomi, allowing devices like the Realme 3 Pro to pull ahead of the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Realme X also shares nearly the same set of specifications like the OnePlus 7 Pro. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor, with Realme stating that the module itself is faster and more reliable than first-gen sensors from previous year.

As for Realme X Lite, it is available for CNY 1199 (~RM 729) for the 4GB/64GB model, CNY 1299 (~RM 790) for the 6GB/64GB option, and CNY 1499 (~RM 911) for 6GB/128GB variant.

Realme X supports Dolby Atmos sound. On the software front, it runs ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. Even the new OnePlus 7 also comes with the exact same set of camera sensors.

The rebranded Realme 3 Pro, the Realme X Lite has been priced lower in China.

As far as pricing goes, the base 4 GB variant with 64 GB storage has been priced at CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,320), the 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage variant at CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,342) and the top-end 8 GB RAM variant with 128 GB storage has been priced at CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs 18,386).
