All riders have to do is click either "Quiet preferred" or "Happy to chat" in the ride preferences section of the app after requesting a auto. It can be requested for any Uber Black or Uber Black SUV and is advertised as ideal for those who "need to respond to emails or are in the mood for a nap".

If you want to ride with the guarantee your driver won't be chatty, then Quiet Mode is for you. Uber says the preferences have to be set up before hailing a ride, and that they offer "an increasing number of ways for riders to personalize their experiences". The feature is only available with the premium Uber Black service, so customers using regular or UberPool services will still need to use their words to ask for quiet. This is the first time the option has been available on the Uber app.

Under the upgrade, Uber would also allow its Premium riders to request help with their luggage and specify their preferred temperature while booking the ride.

The driver will have to wait up to 15 minutes for the rider, instead of the usual 1-5 minutes. "With these new features and more to come, we're excited to ensure that our riders can arrive relaxed and refreshed, wherever they're headed". To avoid this social awkwardness, Uber has introduced Quiet Mode. "That's why we've improved features and requirements to meet or exceed their expectations on every ride", the news release states.

The features include steps to identify the right auto and a push notification to remind riders of the "Check Your Ride" steps just before their vehicle arrives, the ride-hailing company said. This will be helpful for users as they will be able to tell the Uber driver as to how they want to be treated inside of the Uber.
