Police searching for suspect after 'potential credible threat' at Columbine High School

Columbine High School, more than 20 other schools in Jefferson County and one school in Denver have been placed on lockout Tuesday afternoon after sheriff's officials said they were investigating "what appears to be a credible threat possibly involving the schools".

"Last night Sol Pais traveled here to Colorado and she made threats to commit an act of violence in this area, she is armed and considered risky", Mike Taplin of Jefferson County Sheriff's Office told local media.

At 2:48 p.m., the Colorado Department of Education sent out this tweet: "Due to a credible threat to schools by an individual identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Public Safety recommends all schools in the Denver metro area conduct a lockout and controlled release immediately".

"She did make statements that were threatening to schools and she did purchase a firearm. and that's why she's a credible threat", said Patricia Billinger, a spokeswoman with the Colorado Department of Public Safety.

In a tweet, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said, "We are now investigating what appears to be a credible threat possibly involving the schools".

Columbine High School in the United States was placed into lockdown by a possible threat posed just days before the 20th anniversary of the mass shooting that killed 13 people.

Since April 20, 1999, when two gunmen stormed Columbine, killing 13 people and wounding 24, threats of violence have become a painful fact of everyday life for the high school and the highly trained security team tasked with keeping it safe.

The 2018 returns show that the Sanders contributed about US$19,000 to charity out of their income of US$566,000, or 3.35 per cent. Governor Jay Inslee of Washington released 12 years of tax returns, showing that he and his wife earned US$202,912 last year.

The FBI is now looking for a woman they say is "obsessed" with the Columbine High shooting. "She is armed and considered to be extremely risky", the office wrote on Facebook.

She subsequently "made threats in the Denver metropolitan area".

Students left classes on time, but after-school activities were canceled at Columbine in Littleton, Colorado.

Classes continued as normal at most of the affected schools, except for Columbine, which canceled after-school activities.

The students walked to crosswalks and buses parked near the entrance.

The FBI alerted Jefferson County authorities to the threat around 11 a.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. The massacre was the deadliest school shooting in American history at the time. The school also continues to receive threats, especially following prominent mass shootings.

Her relatives say, if the allegations are true, there may be problems they couldn't see on the surface. Extra precautions were taken at schools near Columbine, where sheriff's deputies were on hand. There was no immediate indication whether there was any connection to the anniversary.
