Samsung Galaxy S10 5G goes on sale in South Korea

Over the past decade, Samsung has worked closely with network operators, device manufacturers and software developers to make 5G a reality with its complete end-to-end solution.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the phone will be available to pre-order in the United States from April 18, with a tentative release date of May 16 - if that's correct, it'll actually launch after the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

"We are at the beginning of a new era where the incredible speed and connectivity of 5G becomes a reality, bringing the world closer to Samsung's vision of connected living", said DJ Koh, president and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics.

Rival manufacturer LG is due to launch its V50 ThinQ, another 5G phone, in the South later this month, while in the US, Verizon's network works with Lenovo's Moto Z3 smartphone fitted with a special accessory.

With the way technology is improving, one will wonder if we can keep the pace. That's because the phone doesn't just offer 5G support; it also sports a bigger screen and battery than the Galaxy S10+.

We still have no idea how much the Galaxy S10 5G will cost in the U.S., but it'll probably be more expensive than all the other S10 phones.

The service is also available in other major cities outside Seoul.

The Galaxy S10 5G isn't the only 5G phone about to launch.

We have come across some leaks earlier surrounding the Galaxy S10 5G smartphone which suggested an upcoming launch.

Unfortunately, those speeds are most of the time achieved in lab conditions, so if you're located I Chicago or Minneapolis, you'll probably get download speeds of around 450Mbps.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G was launched to tie into the release of South Korea's 5G network, one of the first consumer 5G grids in the world ahead of similar networks launching in various other countries.
