Toronto Maple Leafs looking to go up 2-0 on Boston Bruins

The NHL Department of Player Safety on Sunday announced that Toronto's Nazem Kadri will have his in-person meeting regarding his cross-check to the next of the Bruins' Jake DeBrusk on Monday afternoon in NY. Kadri was able to return in the third period, and actually scored Toronto's only goal, but was ejected after an ugly, high hit on DeBrusk.

The Leafs are bound to be without Nazem Kadri for Game 3, if not longer.

Toronto got a power play five minutes into the third, but could do nothing until Kadri broke Rask's shutout bid on a deflection at 10:44.

As of this post the National Hockey League has not made a dertermination on any further discipline, but they are offering an in-person hearing for the hit. If the Bruins carry this effort over to Game 3, the Maple Leafs are going to be in tough, but it feels like things could go either way ... and likely back and forth.

"In anything in life, you want to be in control and you've got to own everything".

"The more battles you win, the more opportunity you are going to get. In the end, Naz has someone else making a decision whether he's playing or not". The Bruins won 4-1 to tie the series at one game apiece.

"If they could ever depend on Kadri, which once upon a time they could, they can't any more".

Boston will make at least one lineup change, as head coach Bruce Cassidy indicated that veteran David Backes will play in Game 2.

Babcock's options as replacements for his third-line centre include Marleau and William Nylander, but neither scenario is ideal.

"There's been a few road teams that have pulled off a couple victories and heading home with two in the bank", Kadri said after the morning skate. "We've just got to move on".

Toronto Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri could be facing yet another postseason suspension. As Kadri exited the penalty box and attempted to rejoin play, DeBrusk appeared to try to lay a body check on the Leafs' center but instead hit him knee-on-knee. "It's our turn to come out with a push".

"The bottom line is you've got to stay patient", Babcock said.

Kadri, who was suspended three games for boarding in last year's series, got a five-minute major and game misconduct for crossching DeBrusk in the head after the Bruins winger hit Patrick Marleau into the curved glass at the end of the Bruins' bench.
