US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has told the Senate on April 10 that Donald Trump will continue increasing pressure on Iran. "Iran is full of Guards" after leaving Friday prayers at Tehran University on their way to a rally in a nearby square.

Unlike the U.S. and its regional allies who have always backed the terrorist and extremist groups in West Asia, Iran's armed forces, including the IRGC, were in the forefront of fighting terrorism and extremism, he added.

In an interview with CNN's Christian Amanpour on Thursday, Iran's UK Ambassador Hamid Baeidinejad said the American military forces in the Persian Gulf region were in a volatile situation and it wouldn't be wise if they made a decision to take action against the IRGC. We have not named all American forces terrorist.

Trump has taken a hard line toward Iran by withdrawing from a landmark nuclear deal that world powers signed with Iran in 2015 and by reimposing tough economic sanctions.

Pompeo said: "We've been clear about our objective in getting Iran to zero (imports) just as quickly as we possibly can, and will continue to do that".

Tehran has also threatened to disrupt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf if the United States tries to strangle Iran's economy by halting its oil exports.
