Discovery and YouTube set a multi-year distribution deal extending Discovery programming into YouTube TV's live TV and on-demand subscription service.

The second price rise in almost 14 months comes as YouTube expands its offering to better compete with a growing number of services, including Dish Network Corp's Sling TV, AT&T's DirecTV Now and Hulu, which are vying to attract viewers cancelling cable subscriptions, or cord cutting.

In addition to the existing 70+ live TV networks and cloud DVR, YouTube TV's adding eight Discovery channels, including the Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, and MotorTrend.

The $49.99 per month price is now in effect for new members.

European Union agrees to offer May Brexit delay after Macron talks tough
If no extension materializes Wednesday, Britain will leave the bloc Friday with no deal, unless it cancels Brexit independently. But she had to leave the EU27 to discuss the UK's future in her absence over a dinner of scallop soup and loin of cod.

A look at what comes after Netanyahu's seeming win in Israel
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu waves to his supporters in Tel Aviv after polls for Israel's general elections closed. Pollsters on Tuesday said that Arab turnout in the election was dramatically reduced and was potentially at a historic low.

European Union demands Brexit plan from May for delay
The PM earlier told leaders she wanted to move the UK's exit date from Friday to 30 June. But a French source said a 12-month extension "seems too long".

Although $50/month isn't exactly unreasonable for what YouTube TV offers, it's now significantly more expensive than it was on launch. Second is the content selection available for YouTube TV, which is pretty good and compares well with other services, but depending on what you want, YouTube TV might not have it. Meanwhile, customers who are billed for the service through Apple will be charged $54.99 per month. In addition, the platform will be adding the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network later this year. YouTube TV initially launched with a subscription fee of $34.99 per month before raising its price to $39.99 per month in March of previous year.

For the earliest of adopters, YouTube TV was priced at $35 per month.

The price hike is effective immediately for all new subscribers. But at $50 a month, I'm no longer so sure if YouTube TV is a great value anymore.
