In the interests of science, NASA and the European Space Agency wants to pay you $19,000 to lay in bed for six months.

Hansjörg Dittus, German Aerospace Center. "Especially in extreme conditions, such as in weightlessness in space, this is a challenge".

ESA team leader for research Jennifer Ngo-Anh speaks to press during the launch of the first joint long-term bed rest study between ESA and United States space agency NASA set to investigate the potential of artificial gravity in mitigating the physiological effects of spaceflight.

"These studies are expected to help advance the understanding of how to keep humans safe as we move from lower-Earth orbit missions into deep space exploration", said NASA on its website. If astronauts are to live for long periods in space, or on the moon and Mars, science needs effective measures to counteract bone and muscle atrophy.

According to the German Aerospace Center, "The results of the study will help scientists develop more effective countermeasures or preventive measures so that astronauts on the space station do not have to spend most of their day doing sports". Specimens of urine, saliva, and blood were gathered from astronauts after, during, and before short space shuttle trips and long-term ISS assignments. He may not stand up unless an experiment demands.

Half of the volunteers will be put a machine that spins them around for half an hour, mimicking what an artificial gravity chamber would do.

USC student allegedly murdered by man she thought was her Uber driver
Josephson's friends became concerned when she didn't show up at her downtown residence or repeated phone calls. Columbia police tweeted two photos of her and a photo of a vehicle they believe she got in around 2 a.m.

Those chosen to participate in the study will be split into groups, but they'll all be in one room. The centrifugal force can be adjusted according to the subject's size.

Though the study has already begun, DLR is seeking participants for a second phase, which will kick off in September.

NASA has done similar studies earlier as well.

For the new study, scientists are seeking nonsmoking, German-speaking women between the ages of 24 and 55.

The study runs across 89 days: 15 days of familiarisation, 60 days of bed rest and then 14 days of rest and astronaut rehab to get you back to normal life after two months off.
