The poll also revealed that while Americans were "satisfied", an overwhelming majority want the special counsel's full report to be made public.

Barr plans to make public a redacted copy of Mueller's almost 400-page investigative report into Russian interference in the 2016 election by mid-April, "if not sooner", he said in a letter to lawmakers on Friday.

Barr said the report would not be submitted to the White House for review and President Donald Trump had deferred to him to deal with any parts over which he could invoke executive privilege.

Trump also coined a new nickname for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, whom he called "pencil neck" and claimed "he has the thinnest neck I've ever seen".

The president mocked Democrats' reactions to AG Bill Barr's summary of the Mueller report.

Barr, citing the "principal conclusions" of the report last week, said the special counsel did not find that the Trump presidential campaign had conspired with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.

However, it remains an open question whether Justice Department lawyers themselves will excise material they believe could be privileged before sending the report to Congress. "Our progress is such that I anticipate we will be in a position to released the report by mid-April, if not sooner".

What Will Happen When the Report Is Made Public and the Ensuing Weeks?

"Finally, in the interests of keeping the public informed as to these matters, I intend to make this letter public after delivering it to you", he said. He said can testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 1 and the House Judiciary Committee on May 2.
