The New York company also appointed several people to its board of directors, including former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Chase Carey, a former executive Twenty-First Century Fox.

"We are thrilled to welcome our new colleagues to the Fox board", Lachlan Murdoch said in a statement carried by Fox News.

The Disney deal is nearly done, and from that major deal, Fox Corporation is trading today as its own, standalone company, (Nasdaq: FOXA, FOX), separate from 21st Century Fox ("21CF"). It will begin trading on NASDAQ under the FOXA and FOX symbols.

Disney won a bidding war past year against cable company Comcast Corp to acquire Twenty-First Century's film and TV assets. While we know the key elements of the deal, it remains unclear what the future of many of Fox's properties - including X-Men - will be in the Disney era.
