In the short video clip, seen below, NYU students approach the pregnant 39-year-old former First Daughter in public and blame her for the horrific tragedy that took place in New Zealand.

The daughter of President Trump's former White House campaign rival, Ms. Clinton was confronted Friday evening at New York University and accused of having "stoked" the hatred that resulted in dozens of Muslims being massacred hours earlier at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand's third-largest city.

One user tweeted: 'This is absolute horses**t. chelsea clinton calling out ilhan omar's anti semitism isn't islamophobia and blaming her for christchurch is uncalled for. i am muslim and i thought omar crossed the line into anti semitism'.

"The 49 people died because of the rhetoric you put out there", added Ms Dweik - who was wearing a Bernie Sanders 2020 T-shirt.

Alleged gunman, Brenton, 28, is an Australian personal trainer and he allegedly killed 49 people and injured 48 others at two mosques in Christchurch, NZ on March 15.

Other students gathered around and snapped their fingers in approval of the words.

Last month, Clinton had criticized Omar's tweet suggesting that American politicians were paid to be pro-Israel. "It certainly was never my intention". I do believe words matter.

Clinton has Omar, who suggested that Jewish political lobbying organizations paid USA politicians for their support of Tel Aviv, which many perceived as an expression of anti-Semitism.

"What does 'I'm sorry you feel that way mean?'", someone from behind the camera yells, before the video cuts out.

Omar, a freshman Democratic representative of Minnesota and practicing Muslim, stirred up controversy last month when she criticized Israel's treatment of Palestinians, saying that lobbyists paid US officials to support Israeli policies.

As the video of Clinton's confrontation circulated on Friday and Saturday, people on both sides of the spectrum came to defend her as well. In the process, they doubled down on their criticism of Omar.
