The striker, who was dubbed "Muggy Mike" by fellow contestants on the show, reportedly passed away near his home town in Essex.

Tributes have flooded in for late Love Island star Mike Thalassitis after he was found dead near his hometown on Saturday. All my love goes out to your friends and family.

Sources claim the reality star was found dead in Essex yesterday.

Before his appearance on the ITV2 reality TV show, Mike was a League Two footballer.

Former Love Island star Tyla Rosie Carr also spoke out about the news.

Mike had also appeared in Celebs Go Dating and was in a relationship with TOWIE's Megan McKenna before breaking up past year. Online: "It's true. We've lost our dear brother Mike".

Although Mike didn't leave Love Island with a long-term girlfriend, he soon found love with Megan Mckenna, before the pair split previous year.
