Liberals must let Wilson-Raybould come back to committee, opposition says

Jody Wilson-Raybould says the past few weeks have been "incredibly hard" for her and her family, but she says she remains committed to the federal Liberal Party and a higher standard of government.

An emergency meeting of the Justice Committee investigating the situation was shut down nearly immediately by the Liberal majority sparking outraged cries of from the opposition of "cover-up", "disgusting" and "shame".

Trudeau's chief of Staff Katie Telford, senior advisers Elder Marques and Mathieu Bouchard and Ben Chin, the chief of staff to Finance Minister Bill Morneau, all need to come to explain their role, said NDP MP Tracey Ramsey.

Poilievre tried in vain to raise point of order demanding his motion be fully dealt with before Drouin's but according to committee rules, a motion to adjourn takes precedence over anything else the committee might do. Butts is a long time friend of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and served as his Principal Secretary before resigning on February 18.

When he testified, Butts put the dispute down to a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings.

Conservative MP Michael Cooper said: "It's part of the cover-up".

The Conservatives said Canada is facing a moral and ethical crisis of leadership and accuse Trudeau of a "coverup".

One opposition source said they are considering putting Ms Wilson-Raybould before the ethics committee instead.
