Jody Wilson-Raybould says the past few weeks have been "incredibly hard" for her and her family, but she says she remains committed to the federal Liberal Party and a higher standard of government.

An emergency meeting of the Justice Committee investigating the situation was shut down nearly immediately by the Liberal majority sparking outraged cries of from the opposition of "cover-up", "disgusting" and "shame".

Trudeau's chief of Staff Katie Telford, senior advisers Elder Marques and Mathieu Bouchard and Ben Chin, the chief of staff to Finance Minister Bill Morneau, all need to come to explain their role, said NDP MP Tracey Ramsey.

Poilievre tried in vain to raise point of order demanding his motion be fully dealt with before Drouin's but according to committee rules, a motion to adjourn takes precedence over anything else the committee might do. Butts is a long time friend of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and served as his Principal Secretary before resigning on February 18.

When he testified, Butts put the dispute down to a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings.

Conservative MP Michael Cooper said: "It's part of the cover-up".

She said there are many holes in the stories coming from Trudeau, Wernick and Butts, and the NDP believes the only way Canadians will be able to hear the full story and get the entire truth behind this scandal is to hold an independent, public inquiry.

While Wilson-Raybould did present her accounts of what happened to the House of Commons Justice Committee opposition leader Andrew Scheer has said that her statements have not gone far enough and is now pushing her to continue sharing her experience.

Too bad Jody Wilson-Raybould was too proud to accept the Indigenous services portfolio when offered it by our prime minister, after losing the prestigious job of attorney general in a cabinet shuffle.

"He sent in his majority to shut down that discussion without a debate and ensure that Canadians will never know the truth", Poilievre said after the abrupt end of the meeting. "What are they hiding and why won't they let her speak?" "At all times, I and those around me acted with integrity and a singular focus on the best interests of all Canadians".

The Conservatives said Canada is facing a moral and ethical crisis of leadership and accuse Trudeau of a "coverup".

One opposition source said they are considering putting Ms Wilson-Raybould before the ethics committee instead.
