While Tate will have his work cut out for him in NY, the team realistically had no choice but to nab the last remaining free agent wide receiver that could give them any kind of chance on offense going forward. And according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Pats are actually showing interest in the veteran slot receiver.

The New England Patriots have yet to make a big splash in National Football League free agency, but could that change with Golden Tate? And the high-volume pass-catcher is now a member of Big Blue after inking a deal with the New York Giants. But the nine-year pro will give quarterback Eli Manning a steady target.

Veteran wide receiver Golden Tate is not going very far, as he will stay in the division and join the Giants on a surprising deal worth $37.5 million over four years.

Tate finished last season with the Philadelphia Eagles following his trade from the Detroit Lions.

Multiple Fatalities Reported in New Zealand Mass Shooting

When the regular season begins, Tate will be 31, seven years younger than his new team's starting quarterback.

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman made a mistake throwing money around last offseason and most of his few free-agent signings, especially running back Jonathan Stewart and offensive guard Patrick Omameh, made little or no impact on the team.

As for Tate, he's the new No. 1 receiver for the Giants, who traded Odell Beckham the Cleveland Browns. Even though the club has moved on from some key players, the addition of Tate would seem to indicate otherwise.
