Announced today, NBC has officially renewed the James Spader-led series for a seventh season.

Season 6 is airing now on Fridays.

The Blacklist started out as a huge hit in 2013 when it aired after The Voice, but aside from a one-night pop after the Super Bowl in Season 2, the show never retained its audience when it moved to Thursdays. This season, the show was bumped to Fridays at 9 p.m.

The Blacklist remains a strong performer for the network, with an average of 7.3 million overall viewers per week, including live and delayed-viewing audiences. That is a 119 percent jump in the demographic.

The Blacklist is also this season's #1 most upscale drama on the Big 4 networks among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes, indexing at a 140 among those viewers in L+7 results, which is important when selling advertising.

Jon Bokenkamp, John Eisendrath, John Davis, John Fox, James Spader, Lukas Reiter, J.R. Orci, Carla Kettner and Laura A. Benson serve as executive producers. The drama also stars Megan Boone as his daughter Liz Keen. Klattenhoff stars as FBI special agent Donald Ressler, and Lennix plays Harold Cooper, the Assistant Director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division.

The series, which returned for its latest season on January 3, joins a list of other NBC series to score early renewals, including the entire Chicago franchise, New Amsterdam, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Superstore and Will & Grace.

The network made the announcement today as season six of the one-hour drama is now airing on Friday nights at 9pm ET/PT.
