Air Canada has 24 MAX 8 aircraft, which it uses mainly for domestic and USA routes, and cancelled London-bound flights from Halifax and St. John's, N.L., after the United Kingdom banned all Boeing MAX 8 jets from its airspace.

A Lion Air flight on a 737 Max 8 crashed in October in Indonesia, taking the lives of its 189 passengers and its crew.

Elwell's agency on Wednesday reversed course and grounded Boeing's 737 Max family of narrow-body jets.

And in what may precede a raft of claims, Norwegian Air has said it will seek compensation from Boeing for costs and lost revenue after grounding its fleet of 737 MAX, while Indonesia's Lion Air has frozen all deliveries of the MAX 8.

The company added that it's Caribbean Airlines' worldwide aviation consultants, attorneys, and management are closely monitoring the situation and will take all required steps to continue to safeguard the airline, its customers and staff.

The announcement comes as French air crash investigators released an image of the plane's flight "black box" flight data recorders recovered from the crash that killed 157 people on Sunday, reports the BBC.

We sincerely thank all stakeholders for the continued confidence placed in the National Airline of Trinidad and Tobago. The incident came after Lion Air Flight JT610 crashed minutes after departing Jakarta in late October.

U.S. President Donald Trump, an aviation enthusiast with deep ties to Boeing, said he hoped the suspensions would be short.

Boeing's shares have sunk 10 percent since Sunday's crash, wiping more than $20 billion off the company's market value.

Under global rules, Ethiopians are leading the investigation but France's BEA will conduct black box analysis as an adviser.

Why Ben Affleck Loves His Massive Phoenix Tattoo
There must be a good metaphor for something that people try to kill but keeps rising from the ashes instead... DeGeneres played into that, joking that it was a phoenix "rising from your ass".

Deadly Cyclone Idai To Hit Zimbabwe Over The Weekend
In neighbouring Malawi, floods have already claimed 45 lives and left over 230,000 people without shelter. The Civil Protection Unit evacuated more than 700 people who were marooned by floods in the district.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency order to ground the jets on Wednesday saying it made the decision based on "newly refined satellite data" and 'new evidence collected at the site and analyzed'.

Airlines say they are working to rebook customers on other planes.

The company continues its efforts "to understand the cause of the accidents in partnership with the investigators, deploy safety enhancements and help ensure this does not happen again", he said in a statement.

The FAA's directive on Monday said that Boeing is updating the maneuvering system software, meaning that the system still poses potential flight risks.

Elwell said Wednesday the FAA was hopeful the software update would be ready "within a couple of months" and expressed optimism it would mitigate risks experienced by pilots.

It was unclear if U.S. transport authorities review the database or investigate the incidents.

According to the flight data recorder, the pilots of Lion Air Flight 610 struggled to control the aircraft as the MCAS repeatedly pushed the nose down following takeoff.

Boeing was criticised after the Lion Air crash for allegedly failing to adequately inform 737 pilots about the functioning of the stall prevention system.

The Ethiopian Airlines plane was less than four months old when it went down six minutes into its flight to Nairobi.
