They will only get Hunt for half of those games, as the National Football League announced on Friday that Hunt would receive an eight-game suspension for his off-field actions, including a violent incident at a hotel that was captured on video and led to his release from the Chiefs in the middle of the season previous year.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Hunt has accepted the punishment and will not appeal the league's ruling.

Hunt was released last season by the Kansas City Chiefs after a video surfaced showing him pushing and kicking and pushing a woman.

"First off, I would like to once again apologize for my actions previous year".

The Browns signed Hunt on a one-year deal this offseason without knowing what type of discipline he might face.

The NFL issued a statement Friday morning indicating the 23-year-old will miss the first eight games of the upcoming season and will forfeit $303,529 of his $645,000 base salary. "I know that my behavior hurt a lot of people, and I again apologize to them", Hunt said in a statement released by the team.

Upset parent brought loaded AK-47 to school
The father claims it was not his intention to threaten anyone with the weapon, and he had no plans to shoot anyone. The West Palm Beach school was placed on a code red lockdown shortly after, and Freeman was asked to step outside.

The Chiefs released Hunt after they found him to be dishonest about the incident involving the kicking and shoving of the woman. I'm extremely grateful that John Dorsey, Dee and Jimmy Haslam and the Cleveland Browns organization are granting me the opportunity to earn their trust and represent their organization in the best way possible on and off the field.

The punishment handed out by the National Football League includes not only Hunt's actions at the Cleveland hotel where he was living in February of 2018, but also stems from a separate physical altercation "at a resort in OH last June". I also appreciate all of the support I received from my union through this process.

Given what we know about Kareem through our extensive research, we believe he deserves a second chance but certainly with the understanding that he has to go through critical and essential steps to become a performing member of this organization, aside from what the National Football League determines from their ongoing investigation. The other altercation allegedly took place at a Kansas City night club following a Chiefs playoff loss in 2018.

The NFL has been criticized in the past for inconsistency with suspension length for various offenses.

Last season, Hunt finished the year with 824 yards and seven touchdowns through 11 games.

Hunt would speak out publicly and apologize for his actions, but has remained a free agent since he was released.
