Goldberg thanked the press, including TMZ, for keeping the details of her illness quiet and not chasing her down in the hospital.

Behar, along with the rest of her co-hosts, swiveled around in their chairs to see Goldberg entering the side of the stage. "I'm not there yet, I know that. But the only way it's going to get better is if I begin, so this is my beginning", Goldberg said Thursday.

Host Joy Behar was delivering an update on Goldberg's recovery during a segment of "The View" that aired on Thursday morning when Goldberg walked on set behind Behar.

It's great to see that she is doing so much better! "Good news: I didn't".

"I wanted the first foray to be to come see y'all because I really kinda missed y'all", she said.

Chiefs release veteran safety Eric Berry after nine seasons with the team

Goldberg first found out she had pneumonia when she went to the hospital with a 102-degree fever. "If you do the machine and you do this breathing thing, you won't have to get this operation", she said. Whoopi Goldberg missed no less than a month of work after struggling with a really bad case of pneumonia that nearly killed her! Sepsis is the leading cause of death in hospitals, with at least 250,000 Americans dying ever year from it in the United States alone (that's more than breast cancer, AIDS and strokes combined).

"'I think some people said to me, 'So, um, how did you get pregnant?' And I could not figure out what they were talking about, and then I remembered that [Joy] had said, 'She's on maternity leave". "You think you can push through because you've got a little cold. If you are paying into insurance, that money should roll over when you need it".

"She's not feeling well", Behar said at the time.

The host said the experience was a "cautionary tale for all of us". "You must really take care of yourself, because there is little tiny stuff out there that will kill you that you never think of".

Behar previously told viewers about Goldberg's diagnosis during the February 20 broadcast while simultaneously debunking rumors that Goldberg would be the surprise host of the Oscars, which were just a few days away at that point. Tell me where you're putting my money. So Goldberg asked if she could lease it. "The scariest moment was my doctor saying to me, 'You do realize how close to death you were?' That was like, 'Uh, no.' I actually hadn't thought of it", Goldberg said. I saw her last night and she's very amusing still, and we had big laughs.
