We've been expecting an official announcement about the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC for ages now, but those hints came to a head with a new set of reports and teasers throughout the past week.

Halo Reach is also coming to Xbox One. In addition, you'll be able to buy the MCC from two different places, and there's new, unexpected content coming as well. Members will receive "the entirety of Halo: Reach", according to Microsoft.

As it is with all of the games included in the Master Chief collection, Halo Reach will be receiving graphical upgrades for Xbox One, which will allow players to experience it in 4K HDR at 60 FPS. Basically, the multiplayer component (which Microsoft clarifies includes the theater and forge) is free. Game Pass subscribers, however, will get access to the lot in one hit. (In fact, it's already listed there.) Halo is a full-on Microsoft series, but not having to deal with that mess of a digital storefront makes the announcement more exciting.

Halo: Combat Evolved/Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. The game will arrive on PC via the Microsoft Store and the competing Steam platform, and will be optimized for PC with enhancements and tweaks.

Android Q Beta Arriving on March 13, Tips Leaked Google Document

Microsoft and 343 have yet to reveal when The Master Chief Collection will land on PC or when Reach will be added, but they promised that more information will be divulged down the road.

The freedom to choose between the Microsoft Store and Steam is wonderful.

Though we are relatively light on details, the fact the Halo games are even coming to PC is absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait for the PC gaming community to finally get their hands on the franchise after being hung out to dry since 2004. While the MCC used to have some issues, 343 have been patching it consistently since launch, and it sounds like the PC will have some extra icing on the cake.
