Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese to re-team for TV series

The development was announced on stage by Craig Erwich, Hulu's SVP of originals, at TCA, where the network is promoting series including George Clooney's Catch-22 and comedy Shrill. Since 2003, the project has been in the hands of multiple studios, including twice with Paramount. They are also making a Theodore Roosevelt biopic titled Roosevelt (with DiCaprio attached to star in the title role) and an adaptation of David Grann's bestselling book Killers of the Flower Moon.

DiCaprio bought the film rights to the book in 2010 and was previously set up with Scorsese to direct. The show will simply be titled The Devil In The White City, and it " l be executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, along with Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn, Emma Koskoff, and Jennifer Davisson.

The story may seem familiar to fans of American Horror Story, as the FX series' fifth season was loosely inspired by Holmes' exploits at his infamous "Murder Castle". The book recounts the true story of Daniel H. Burnham, the genius architect behind the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and how his incomparable world showcase would intersect with that of serial killer H.H. Holmes (real name Herman Webster Mudgett), a doctor who committed heinous crimes just blocks from the massive fair grounds.

In the movie, Pinkman, who's wrongfully kidnapped by perpetrators, manages to escape and sets out to live a free life. This is the second spin off of the hit show following the success of Better Call Saul , which now has four seasons.

The series will stream on Hulu in partnership with Paramount Television, that is developing it for small screen adaptation.

The Devil in the White City has a long development past, with Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner originally putting it in development in Hollywood before DiCaprio acquired the rights to it.
