Red Bull is expected to revert to a more traditional livery when testing begins in Barcelona next week.

"I am very excited to get started as the off-season has been quite long", said Verstappen, 21.

"So our objective very much is to try and be more consistent across all of the circuits, and hopefully with more horsepower than we had previous year will only help to lessen that gap".

Verstappen completed 39 laps with the team reporting that the auto ran "faultlessly".

The four-times champions have switched engine supplier for the new season.

"Of course today is all about filming, but it's also a really valuable opportunity to check that all the systems work and that the auto is fundamentally in good shape before we head to Barcelona next week where hopefully it will be a bit warmer!" said team boss Christian Horner.

Red Bull are no strangers to causing a surprise during "launch season".

After five years without championship success, Red Bull is switching from Renault power to Honda this year.

Red Bull saw progress in Honda, when they partnered with junior team Toro Rosso, and were convinced they would make the gains required to push on and become a title contender once more.

Daniel Ricciardo's departure to Renault has opened the door for 23-year-old Pierre Gasly to stake his claim as a race victor of the future.
