The e-commerce giant is acquiring Eero, maker of the popular routers and mesh WiFi system of the same name. Founded in San Francisco in 2014 by Amos Schallich, Nate Hardison, and Nick Weaver, eero's goal is to make WiFi so good that you'll never think about WiFi again. The company recently expanded Key by Amazon, the program that lets delivery drives slip items inside homes or garages via smart locks.

From the beginning, eero's mission has been to make the technology in homes just work.

"We have a shared vision that the smart home experience can get even easier, and we're committed to continue innovating on behalf of customers", Amazon's hardware chief Dave Limp said in a statement Monday. Smart home systems are notoriously complex to set up, and the interplay of devices can put a lot of strain on home WiFi systems. Every customer deserves reliable and secure WiFi in every room. If we had to guess, Amazon's acquisition of Eero could make Alexa-compatible gadgets easier to set up and maintain a quality internet connection.

Oil gets a boost from Saudi output pledge, declining U.S. inventories
Brent crude futures have risen 20 percent in 2019 to around $63 a barrel, but most of that increase took place in early January. Helping to keep a lid on the market are adequate global inventories, the prospect of weakened demand tied both to U.S.

Today's press release notes that the eero team will be "joining the Amazon family" and "bring eero systems to more customers around the globe".

However, access to better in-home Wifi technology will also help Amazon optimize its entertainment-focused devices, including Fire TV streaming adapters and TVs with Fire TV software built-in. With Amazon acquiring Ring earlier past year, and with the Echo range continue to grow and expand it's not to hard to see a pathway to Amazon launch a fully integrated solution over time.
