Latest U.S. estimates indicate that since 1989, hundreds of thousands of women's lives have been saved by mammography and improvements in breast cancer treatment. In this screening, 35 invasive breast cancer tumors of small size were detected before they could reach the lymphatic nodes.

Annual screening for younger women aged 35-39 who have a family history of breast cancer would be highly effective in detecting tumours earlier, a major United Kingdom trial based in Manchester has found.

The trial compared the results to an unscreened cohort of women aged 35-39 and at increased risk in the POSH trial4, with annual screening being shown to almost double the proportion of tumours detected before they had grown to 2cm in size.

The women were all aged 35 to 39 and at moderate or high risk of breast cancer due to their family history, such as a mother or sister having the disease at a young age.

Cumulative breast cancer deaths averted from 1990 to 2015 ranged from more than 305,000 women to more than 483,000 women depending on different background mortality assumptions.

Baroness Delyth Morgan, of Breast Cancer Now, said: 'This could be an enormous breakthrough.

Based on the findings, leading United Kingdom clinicians and researchers suggest that regular screening in women identified at moderate or high risk of breast cancer could be extended from ages 40-49 to also include women aged 35-39.

Ex-boyfriend arrested in connection to Valerie Reyes's death
Reyes, a Barnes & Noble store clerk, had broken up with her boyfriend five days earlier, according to Sanchez. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, in New Rochelle.

The trial compared the results with a group of women aged 35 to 39 who were at increased risk but did not undergo screening. Hence, before allowing it to spread in the entire body, these small tumors could be removed permanently to prevent women from breast cancer.

"Overdiagnosis is also far less likely to be a major issue in such a young age group". The good news is more than half of deaths linked to the disease were prevented in the US over the past three decades; however, there's a big racial gap in Georgia.

Breast cancer is Britain's most common cancer, affecting 55,000 women a year and killing nearly 12,000.

But those reports have also often neglected "the most important aspect of screening - that finding and treating breast cancer early saves women's lives", Hendrick said.

In its response, NHS England spokesperson assured to consider the possible changes to the screening programme in the review.
