Tesla launches roll-out of Model 3 in Europe

Some 150 employees out of a team of about 230 were let go in January at the Las Vegas facility that gets tens of thousands of Model 3s into the hands of USA and Canadian buyers, they said, in a sign the company expected the pace of deliveries to significantly slow in the near term. As reported in a recent Digital Journal article Tesla customers were not able to begin configuring their Model 3s until this January.

In an effort to lower the price of the auto, Musk, who is also the founder of rocket company SpaceX, has slashed more than 3,000 jobs and ended a customer referral program.

The cuts, which have not been come to notice before, could fuel investor anxiety that demand for the Model 3 in the United States has taken a major hit after a large tax break for consumers expired past year and the vehicle remains vastly expensive for the majority of the interested consumers. Until then, Chinese Tesla customers will have these upper trims of the Model 3 available to them for purchase.

In a Twitter post, the Tesla Chief Executive, Elon Must wrote, "the company is doing everything we can to drop the Model 3 base price to $35,000, without credits".
