Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William walk BAFTAs red carpet

The royal couple sat in the front row for the star-studded awards ceremony and greeted some of the night's winners, including best actress victor Olivia Coleman, who is also an Oscar nominee for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite.

Middleton and Prince William arrived in style and hit the red carpet with their usual grace and poise.

She will play William's grandmother the Queen in The Crown, and gave an emotional acceptance speech upon receiving her award.

Prince William wore a traditional black tuxedo but strayed from tradition slightly with a pair of black velvet loafers.

He continued: "I am a passionate supporter of BAFTA and I couldn't be more proud of its ambitious plans to dramatically increase the support for new talent over the coming years". And we can see why-she always looks stunning. Middleton wore an asymmetrical Alexander McQueen white gown with floral decorations on her left shoulder.

Kate Middleton and Prince William are regular attendees of the British Academy Film Awards with the Duke of Cambridge being president of the BAFTAs.

Meanwhile, at the BAFTA Awards, The Favourite dominated the list of winners while Roma took home the top two prizes - Best Film and Best Director - of the evening. This award is given to an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television.
