In fact, the original Miata made its global debut at the 1989 Chicago show, making the launch of this new version at this year's show even more poignant.

The 30th Anniversary Edition comes in a unique hue called Racing Orange, which recalls the orange MX-5 Miata Club Racer that was present at the 1989 debut of the original MX-5 Miata.

Based on the 2.0-litre GT model, the MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition has 135kW of power and 205Nm of torque to its name.

In addition to Racing Orange, the MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition features forged aluminium Rays wheels developed exclusively for the MX-5 in cooperation with Rays Co Ltd. and a 30th-anniversary badge displaying the model's serial number.

Ariana Grande drops Thank U, Next album and fans can't handle it
In a separate tweet, Grande uploaded a screenshot of Ehrlrich's quote from the AP story to give fans some context. You wouldn't have guessed, two years ago, that Ariana Grande would slot into this exalted position.

Mazda's ever-popular convertible is turning 30. You could say that the special edition is for fans who feel like they have been friends with the Miata forever. It gets Bilstein dampers (manual models only), Brembo front brake calipers painted orange, and Nissin rear brake calipers that are also finished in orange.

Launched as both a tribute to these MX-5 fans and as a mark of the high hopes the firm has for the future of its sports auto, the 30th Anniversary Edition is exclusively offered in the newly developed Racing Orange body paint, a strikingly vivid colour that marks out this special MX-5.

Other unique features include a numbered build plate ornament, Recaro seats, and Alcantara highlights for the doors, dashboard and centre-section of the seats.

Live photos of the special Miata in Chicago are now in the gallery. Or you can (probably) find one of the 25th Anniversary editions on the used market. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, as does a three-month SiriusXM subscription and three-year Traffic Plus and Travel Link subscription. Just 3000 of the 30th Anniversary Miata will be sold worldwide, with only 500 coming to the United States. The soft top model starts at $34,995 for the six-speed manual and goes up to $37,995 for an automatic RF.
