That brings the total number of measles cases in OR up to four.

Clark County Public Health has confirmed 49 cases of the measles, while King County has at least one confirmed case, CNN reported.

The CDC says there have been 79 cases of measles so far this year in the states that reported data, and it's only February. The children, however, were not old enough to receive the second dose.

Clark County also listed 11 suspected cases of measles. The outbreak includes 43 cases among those who were not immunized, six cases where immunization has not been verified and one case where the person had received a single dose of vaccine.

Officials said the recently diagnosed residents stayed home and limited contact with other people.

"Before the measles vaccine, we had an increase in measles, and then, when the measles vaccine was created, it started getting more and more people vaccinated", Beckham said. It is important that you do not visit your GP without first letting him or her know that you or your child may have measles.

In the event of a measles outbreak, WAC 246-105-080 authorizes schools (public or private), child care centers, or the local Health Officer to exclude any child or staff who does not have appropriate documentation of immunity against measles. The vaccine takes effect within 72 hours, health officials said.

Multnomah County officials have reported a steep uptick in vaccinations over this time a year ago. Three times as many people have gotten vaccinated in January - from 200 per day in 2018 to 600 per day in 2019.

"This outbreak has put people at real risk", said Ann Thomas, public health physician at the Oregon Health Authority.

The health department said there are two other potential cases of measles that are pending as they wait for test results.
