Two soldiers from Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) based in North Kivu, eastern region have died of Ebola virus, a military official said Thursday.

"As of January 25, a total of 724 Ebola cases, including 451 deaths, have been reported from the DRC - an immediate neighbor of South Sudan. But, South Sudan is at particularly high risk of imported cases due to the cross-border movement of people and goods, hence protecting frontline and health care workers from getting infected with Ebola is the highest priority for the Ministry of Health in South Sudan", Kok told journalists in Juba.

United Nations investigators identified 59 burial sites in two of the attacked towns and more may be discovered, the mission said.

Emergency aid in the form of medicine, food, water tablets and malaria kits have been dispatched to the region, the statement said.

A dispute linked to a tribal chief's burial is seen as a catalyst for the fighting between the Banunu and Batende communities.
