Rex Tillerson: Trump told me to break the law

Tillerson aired his grievances against Trump, calling him "undisciplined" in an interview on Thursday, accusing him of trying to violate the laws and treaties.

Rex Tillerson has said the president is "undisciplined" and 'doesn't like to read.

But he declined to do so, he said, during a rare public appearance in Houston, according to reports in local media.

The same month, Tillerson called a press conference to refute an NBC News report that Vice President Pence had to talk him out of resigning following Trump's rambling, highly politicized speech to a gathering of Boy Scouts.

"I'd say here's what we can do", the former Exxon CEO said in a Houston speech.

Later Friday, Trump addressed Tillerson's remarks on Twitter.

"He was dumb as a rock and I couldn't get rid of him fast enough", Trump said. "I think he grew exhausted of me being the guy every day who told him he can't do that and let's talk about what he can do".

Asked how his relationship with Trump had gone off the rails, Tillerson said it might have been the result of his telling the president that he could not do certain things because they were illegal or would violate US treaties.

SpaceX set to send cargo to space station

Huawei executive faces fraud charges in US
Asked this week about a possible Canadian ban on Huawei, Trudeau said he would defer to the advice of his intelligence agencies. Meng arrived in the packed Supreme Court of British Columbia as dozens of photographers jostled outside the building.

"We can go back to Congress and get this law changed", Tillerson said he told Trump.

Tillerson, 66, was sacked from the White House in March after rumors of a rift between him and Trump had been circulating for some time. "Now it is a whole new ballgame, great spirit at State!"

Trump praised Tillerson's successor, the brusque former congressman and Central Intelligence Agency chief Mike Pompeo, for "doing a great job".

Tillerson, a former chief executive of oil giant ExxonMobil, had no government experience and had never met Trump when his nomination was promoted by Republican Party insiders, who hoped for a stable figure who could nonetheless appeal to the tycoon-turned-president with his outsider status and business background.

Tillerson also said at the Houston event that "there's no question" Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 presidential election.

Saying Trump was elected using modern-day tools to tap into strong emotions, he added, "I will be honest with you".

Trump says he only hires the best, but that didn't stop him from attacking his former top diplomat Friday, implying he wasn't qualified to do the job.
