Police give all clear after bomb threat at NY offices

CNN said several fire alarm bells signaling an evacuation rang inside its newsroom shortly after 10:30pm.

CNN's Brian Stelter tweeted that CNN is airing taped programming due to the disruption.

"We were evacuated in the middle of my live show". Employees have been evacuated and the NYPD is investigating.

The NYPD tweeted, "Around 10:35pm, a bomb threat was called into the Time Warner Center & the building was evacuated".

Police have given the all-clear after a phoned in bomb threat forced the evacuation of CNN's offices in NY.

The bomb threat was called in while CNN's Don Lemon was in mid-broadcast.

"It's kind of a repeat situation of what we went through in October", Lemon said on CNN.

After a sweep of the building, police did not find any explosives and employees were allowed back inside the building just after 11pm.

A day later they were evacuated again due to a suspicious package that was later declared as safe.

CNN was targeted amid a wave of pipe bombs sent to opponents of President Donald Trump. Sayoc, who was tracked down to Florida and arrested on October 26, faces life in prison for sending at least 16 mail bombs in total. Earlier in the night, Trump had lambasted the "fake news media" on Twitter as well, falsely claiming that reporters don't mention the Republican midterm gains in the Senate.
