Cleveland Browns General Manager John Dorsey wants to conduct a wide-ranging search for the team's next head coach and that includes the possibility of interviewing women for the position.

The Browns would like to interview former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for their head-coaching job, a league source tells ESPN.

The Cleveland Browns' incompetence is legendary in the NFL.

Now the ante has been well and truly upped as reports emerged Condoleezza Rice, who served in her former role under George W. Bush, is top of a shortlist.

She would also presumably take some responsibility for whatever decisions she made, which would make her the opposite of the recently fired Hue Jackson.

Rice is a lifelong Browns fan and was spotted on the field with the team's ownership prior to Cleveland's September 29 game against Oakland.

Recently, Rice led a commission on college basketball that proposed major changes, such as eliminating the controversial one-and-done rule.

A die-hard Browns fan, Rice was one of the inaugural members of the College Football Playoff selection committee, where she worked from 2013 to 2016.

Unsurprisingly, the Twitterati has been prolific with darkly humorous references to alleged "lifelong Browns fan" Rice's past role in the USA government, and other potential appointments for the Browns.

"She's an wonderful person", the source said.
