Former England, Chelsea Midfielder Joe Cole Retires

And the Stamford Bridge faithful were quick to laud Cole for playing a part in bringing Hazard to the club.

To be honest I was a little surprised to find that Joe Cole retired today but mainly because I'd forgotten that he was still playing. He only left for Chelsea after the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League.

Joe Cole has described his 20-year career as "a dream come true" after announcing his retirement from football at the age of 37. Those memories will live with me forever, as will the chance I had to share them with my family. It will be hard to replicate that but I'll always remember all of my former team-mates who I shared that experience with. "I don't want to single anyone out individually for fear of overlooking someone else", he said in a statement.

Cole has had career-defining moments with Chelsea having won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup twice along with a League Cup with the team.

The former England worldwide had a stint at France in Lille.

But it was at Chelsea - under the guidance of boss Jose Mourinho - where Cole enjoyed most success. One of mine came when I was a young West Ham player. Collecting the ball with his back to goal 25 yards out, he beat three defenders before shooting past the goalkeeper.

His stunning goal for England against Sweden at the 2006 World Cup will go down as one of his country's best of all time - one of 10 strikes in a 56-cap worldwide career which sadly didn't live up to its promise (much like many among his talented generation, it must be said).

Giants vs. 49ers: Statistics, numbers and broken records
Eli Manning showed he still has what it takes to lead the kind of game-winning drive that earned him two Super Bowl MVP awards. His passer rating was 110.7 and no doubt he staves off talk that he will lose his starting job, at least for another week.

Blake Snell, Jacob deGrom Win Cy Young Awards
That was the lowest mark since Zack Greinke's in 2015, and the second lowest in the last 23 seasons in Major League Baseball. Other Cy Young winners from the Mets include Dwight Gooden (1985), and Tom Seaver (1969, '73, '75).

Wellington to host All Blacks vs Springboks pre-RWC clash
New Zealand won their fifth Women's Rugby World Cup previous year after they beat England 41 - 32 in a pulsating final in Belfast. The country was up against Australia in a vote conducted by the World Rugby Council in Dublin on Wednesday.

"I spoke to him before I signed for Chelsea", Hazard said.

"I remembered what was special for me when I was sitting in the stands watching games and I tried to replicate this".

"Whatever is next, I hope the next two decades are as special as my last 20 years as a professional have been".

"He said Chelsea was a big club where you can win trophies every season".

"As somebody who loves the club himself, he said he could really see me in the shirt so, when I see him next, I'll tell him he was right".

So long Joe, and thanks. Enjoy your retirement fella.
