"You truly inspired me".

Dowden added: "Do you know Danny told me day one that he has been a frustrated song and dance man".

After Danny's results were revealed he said: "It's been a great experience and I'm just so unhappy I didn't get Amy to where she needed to be".

The Red Dwarf star and the pro dancer were eliminated from the programme on Sunday night after losing out in a dance-off against Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse, and he has praised Amy for "inspiring" him throughout the series and teaching him numerous moves.

"It's a dream job and I'm just very very lucky to have had the opportunity".

In a now deleted tweet, Jordan wrote that Danny's mother looked "miserable" at a Strictly taping, which the actor and his wife Petula Langlais both replied to, with the former stating his mother had Alzheimer's. Other celebrities returning for the BBC1 Christmas Day show include former victor Caroline Flack, Anita Rani, Aston Merrygold, Jake Wood and cricketer Michael Vaughan. I told myself I'm not going to cry tonight.

Serena Williams named GQ Woman of the Year - but cover sparks controversy
Last year, in a post on reddit, Williams opened up about being "called a man" because of her appearance. It's GQ's decision to put the word woman in quotation marks on Serena's cover that's infuriated fans.

Explaining their reasons behind their decisions, Craig Revel Horwood began: 'Just for sheer level of difficulty and who I think is the best dancer.

Bruno Tonioli and head judge Shirley Ballas both echoed Bussell's sentiments, with Ballas saying: "Both couples were really wonderful. I think they both put the best step forward but with a more flawless performance, more energy packed, with more excitement, I'm going to go with Graeme and Oti".

Another said: "Whatttt?! Danny is gone home??"

"The performances, Danny, you belonged there and I hope to see you on stage performing really soon".

She tweeted: "You should be so proud of the performances you produced!"

A third said: "Not Danny!". And I know that they love you, and I love you'. It seems to be turning into a vendetta.

The remaining eight couples will return to "Strictly" next week, for the show's annual special aired live from Blackpool Tower, kicking off on Saturday night at 6.45pm on BBC One.
