The suspect, who reportedly killed himself, opened fire at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks during a college night country music event. She continued the family's tradition of attending Pepperdine University.

Her high school alma mater officials remembered Alaina as a "natural leader and connector", who was loved by her fellow students and the school staff. "I'm hoping I'm wrong", he told the newspaper. Promptly after confirming their niece's death, Tamera's co-hosts sent messages of love and support to her and her family.

We're hoping and praying that Tamera and Adam's niece is found safe.


"Words can't describe our grief over losing our daughter, Alaina", Alaina's father, Arick Housley, said in a statement.

Alaina was one of almost 20 Pepperdine students who were at Borderline when the shooting occurred Wednesday night. "He died a hero", said Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean.

"Please pray. Please pray", she wrote.
