Hamilton has had pole and won once in Brazil and Bottas secured pole position past year.

"I have been three times in a position like that in '17, '09 and this year".

Governing body the FIA says a series of measures have been taken to ensure F1 personnel are at reduced risk leaving the circuit, a time at which incidents have become increasingly common in recent years.

After Hamilton's fifth title was confirmed in Mexico last week, Vettel also pinpointed a three-race stretch between Singapore and Japan where Ferrari's upgrade package actually made the vehicle slower.

In the two seasons in which he clinched the drivers' title before the season ended, he failed to win another race - so the presence of Bottas could be a critical factor for the team.

But Hamilton pointed out that Mercedes had lacked competitiveness in the last two races in the U.S. and Mexico.

"We have such a huge respect for each other", he said.

"It already feels like we are on race 25 this year", said the Briton, just a day after Vietnam was finally unveiled as the latest addition to the schedule, "so I don't think that's a good thing personally".

"We still have a job to do on this weekend, to win the constructors title, so the focus remains absolutely the same".

He said he and the team did not yet fully understand why they had struggled so much in Mexico, where he finished fourth. "I see how hard he works. We're trying to win", he told reporters.

Hamilton has since wrapped up his fifth drivers' title, which means Bottas is now free once more to challenge his team-mate in the two remaining races of the campaign.

Hamilton wore a green and navy Kith hooded top and tracksuit bottoms, along with a denim jacket, topped with a Mercedes-brand cap, to keep on message with his F1 team. He's going to want to win in his own way. I don't think he needs that anyway, I think he can do it himself.

"All I can do is try and make sure I'm supportive throughout the weekend. I'm always really open with my set-up, so I'll continue to be so".

He's going to want to win it in his own way. "I want to win by doing it by myself".

Even with these results, Ferrari only managed to outscore Mercedes by 11 points, so it will be extremely challenging for them to outscore them by at least 13 points in the Brazilian Grand Prix to take the constructor championship battle to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

But Interlagos is different. We don't have enough power. And with the downforce we have on the cars the corners are all a bit more easier.
