Thompson wore a teal suit and white sneakers to the event, according to Vanity Fair.

Even a ceremony as grand as receiving a damehood couldn't stifle Emma Thompson's quick wit.

The two-time Oscar victor looked pretty happy with her latest choice to forgo heels.

When actress Emma Thompson went to Buckingham Palace on Wednesday to receive her damehood from Prince William for services to the acting industry, she had one very cheeky request of the Duke.

"It's really lovely because I've always loved the boys, and I've always been a long-term correspondent with their dad", she added, referencing William, Prince Harry and Prince Charles. "I've known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other", she told the Associated Press.
