The feature was announced as part of Android's In-App Updates API, which Google said is now being tested and will launch to developers soon. Immediate displays a full-screen message right when a player boots up an Android app that prompts them to update the app.

The API gives developers an immediate in-app update option that can be used mainly to push critical updates.

The second option is a flexible update that allows the user to continue using the app while the update continues in progress. An API (application programming interface) provides developers with all of the tools and building blocks needed to help them create applications.

Google is enabling users to have up-to-date Android apps all the time - without making any efforts to download them by visiting Google Play. The API will give developers a couple options when it comes to updates. Though there's a catch, the app downloads the update when a user is using it, but it gets installed when you reopen the app.
