Prince Charles acknowledges UK role in horror of slave trade

Speaking with newsmen, following closed-door meeting, the Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II said the prince gave a brief summary of discussions held with President Muhammadu Buhari on a range of issues from climate change to demographic explosion.

The Prince of Wales and heir to the British throne, Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, have arrived in Abuja.

They were expected to travel to Jos on Thursday, the last day of their stay, to discuss peace-building and conflict resolution. On the advice of the British government, a spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said the decision was made "upon the advice from the Nigerian government and others involved in security and operational aspects of the visit".

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall danced with President Akufo-Addo while the Prince of Wales danced with First Lady Rebecca.

The couple were received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello.

They arrived the Presidential Villa at about 2.20pm.
