Now, with the former actress having no immediate family to share her new life with, her majesty has reportedly chose to invite her mom, Doria Ragland (62), to spend Christmas at her private country house in Sandringham, England, Daily Mail reports.

A source said it was a "very thoughtful gesture" for the pregnant Duchess's mother to be invited, in what would be an unusual move, the Sunday Express reported.

A source close to the family says that the invitation is a "mark of [the Queen's] respect" for Meghan, an acknowledgement that she doesn't have any family in England.

Ms Ragland, 62, impressed senior royals including the Queen with her shy and gentle nature displayed at her daughter's royal wedding and during Meghan's first solo project when she launched the cookbook "Together".

Cape Town - Since marrying Prince Harry, Meghan seems to have taken to royal life like a fish to water - even gaining favour with Queen Elizabeth II.

The move is somewhat unprecedented, as a member outside of the Royal family has not been invited to stay at the Norfolk estate during the Christmas period before. Doria already has met the Royal Family during her visit to the United Kingdom in May, when she attended her daughter's big day.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace declined to comment today.

Mr Markle pulled out because of health problems just days before she was due to walk down the aisle and admitted he had staged paparazzi pictures.

Meghan and Harry recently returned to the United Kingdom from their mammoth Commonwealth tour and will be spending their first Christmas together as husband and wife in December.
