Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), is an annual worldwide health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths, behind lung cancer, and the second-most-common form of cancer among women, behind skin cancer.

Results showed that women eating the highest amount of processed meat (about 25-30 grams a day, on average) had a 9% higher risk of developing breast cancer than those who ate the lowest amount (a median of 0-2 grams per day). Side effects from these treatments can range from hair loss, nerve damage and memory problems years after treatment. We hope that results from our research may help give you some ideas.

Amber Thomas, a senior biomed major from Birmingham, explained that the event's goal is not only to raise money to fight breast cancer but also to raise awareness.

"I call them and motivate them". They sent me a lot of information and I had a person that if I had any questions she was right there for me. Staff, students, and families were encouraged to wear pink each Wednesday throughout the month of October to recognize the battle so many women are facing.

"He [my doctor] said, "you'll be fine". She did very well up under him, and he ended up sending me to the same doctor. "And, that kind of eased my mind...because he shared his personal experience with me and that made a difference with my treatment". They also opine that cancerous cells may develop when the chemicals interact with the DNA of the user; or interfere with the action of estrogen, known to influence the growth of breast cancer cells.

The researchers admitted, however, that their study has some limitations due to some variability among studies, and that since most of the studies were conducted in North America and Europe, the findings may not be generalized to women in other regions of the world. "Let people use your footprint for whatever they want to do". "Just to not see anyone else go through that heartache that comes along with a cancer diagnosis is why we're doing it".

"Healthy habits can help prevent cancer and numerous other health conditions, such as heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure", Elders said.

They analyzed the results of 15 studies evaluating the association between processed meat and breast cancer incidence, which included data from 37,070 breast cancer cases in more than 1.2 million women.

Family and friends should also be aware that survivors' support needs may change over time. Because dense tissue is one of the main reasons for masked tumors, women were stratified into risk categories based on percent breast density.
