The mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-series is only getting better and better with every new chipset. Xiaomi Global VP and Managing Director Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain made the announcement about a Snapdragon 675-powered smartphone to be launched soon, but failed to mention the exact timeline of the release.

At the ongoing Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong, the company announced the all-new Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform. The new Kryo 460 CPU features 2x high-performance cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 6x power efficient cores clocked at 1.7GHz. To recall, the Snapdragon 675 SoC was unveiled earlier the same day as an upgrade to the Snapdragon 670 that was launched in August this year.

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 675, the latest addition to the company's growing lineup of 600-series chipsets for mid to high-end smartphones and tablets. The company adds that it's focused on gaming performance with the SD675, taking steps like working with game developers and making optimizations for games and game engines like Unity and Unreal.

Honda's Marc Marquez clinches his 7th MotoGP title in Japan

Moving onto the imaging aspect, the new Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform has the Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP and it supports a triple camera configuration in the front or back. With this, Xioami has become the first company to announce a device powered by SD675 chipset and could also be the first to launch it. It has a large 14-bit Image Sensor Processors and supports 4k video recording at 30fps and 1080p video capture at 120fps., Snapdragon 675 provides limitless slo-mo - capable of recording extended slo-mo video clips in HD, not limited to one second or shorter bursts. This time round, the Snapdragon 675 is using AI to also enable more secure yet faster face unlock - apparently up to three times faster than the Snapdragon 670, with a one-to-a-million false acceptance rate. On the connectivity front, it sports Snapdragon X12 LTE modem that offers up to 600Mbps download speeds and up to 150Mbps upload speeds.

Better camera processing is another selling point for the 675. Quick Charge 4+ charges a battery from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes, and the Snapdragon 675 works with Qualcomm's Aqstic and aptX audio technologies.

Essentially, the Snapdragon 675 is geared at mid-range devices with FHD+ panels, and with mobile gaming seeing a meteoric rise in markets like China, it's likely this is where we'll see the first slate of devices make their debut.
