Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly emerges as a shock target for a return to Real Madrid should Los Blancos sack underfire boss Julen Lopetegui.

Mourinho has been linked with the job at the Bernabeu as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui, who has struggled since taking over in the summer.

The 55-year-old won La Liga and the Copa del Rey during his time as Madrid boss between 2010 and 2013.

Reacting to the rumoured move to Madrid, Metro UK quoted Mourinho as saying ahead of Man United's champions League clash with Juventus on Tuesday night: "No, I am happy here. All I'm thinking about is United".

"I have many years of my contract left, I am very happy here".

United will be without Alexis Sanchez against Juventus after the Chilean missed training today with an unspecified injury. Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Phil Jones are also missing.

He said: "The players you saw are the ones who are available". "There is nothing to hide and Alexis is out".

Phil Neville has called for Chelsea's second assistant to be sacked but Mourinho wants Ianni to remain on Sarri's staff.

"His club was strong with him and he went through a situation he recognises he was wrong".

"I hope they don't disturb the career of a young guy and that's the end of the story". But I would like the boy to go through more than that. You have to let him work.
