A successor has appeared on Geekbench as the Nokia 8.1 and it appears it won't be a flagship.

The Nokia 8 launched a year ago as the first Nokia flagship phone following the takeover of the brand by HMD Global Oy.

The Geekbench listings usually mention the codename for the device that is tested. Unlike the Nokia 8 which is powered by a top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the Nokia 8.1 is equipped with a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 CPU, which is complemented by 4GB RAM. The device that was benchmarked might be the base variant of Nokia 8.1 as even the Nokia X7 is available with 4 GB or 6 GB RAM. Incidentally, the Nokia 7.1 Plus too, has the same processor.
